1969 Mercedes -Benz 280SL "Pagoda"

Changes included a larger displacement of Mercedes-Benz's inline six-cylinder engine enlarged. Now enlarged to 2.8 liters, serving up an appreciated overall performance curve. Production lasted until 1971 and encompassed a production of 23,885 brought into the United States. Though well-established in number its appeal to collectors and enthusiasts continues to this day

This special 280 SL was equipped new from the factory with the most desirable "Pagoda" hardtop giving the car its iconic name. Additionally, single seats are still covered in factory red leather, power steering, a floor-shift automatic transmission, front and rear bumper guards, instruments served in miles, a driver-side outside mirror, a Becker Europa radio, and paint that is original having only undergone a "correction" with wet sanding and compounding.

True "matching numbers" and "All original" cars are rare, though the terms are often overly used. This example has never been more than 10 miles from where it was purchased and gifted by long-term family ownership. All maintenance is done and current.

It includes extensive service records, original documentation, and a bill of sale from it's purchase in 1969. Along with books and tools.
