PRODUCT DETAILS

Why the “S” designation? Steel all rolled steel.

This fantastic completely rust free and untouched Pantera GT5 from 1987 has been presented in a 6-page report in GranTurismo Magazine. It was the first GT5-S brought to Sweden by the chairman of the De Tomaso Motorsports Club.

One of only 187 produced in total, this Pantera GT5-S is one of a handful still completely original. Running only 18K verified miles since new. It has its matching 351 CI V-8 engine, and ZF 5-speed manual transmission. The interior finish is Ivory leather with burlewood accents throughout and has its rare original bucket seating and Alpine vertical mounted stereo. Period “hip” to be sure. To the exterior, find the original factory Rosso Fuoco red paint and defining fiberglass wing with lovely factory Campagnolo magnesium wheels staggered to 285/40 VR 15 front and impressive 345/35 VR 15 rear.

The Pantera, designed by Ghia and initially imported by Ford, has long been revered for its central engine placement, potent powertrains, and exceptional cornering capabilities, offering both speed and stability. Hand-built and introduced as an exotic alternative to sports cars of its time, the Pantera attracted a younger, affluent clientele to Ford showrooms. Notably, it featured a Monocoque steel construction, a first for DeTomaso, ensuring durability and performance. Debuting in Modena in 1970 and later showcased at the New York Motor Show, the Pantera saw steady production, with notable upgrades like the GT5-S in 1984, which boasted wider body styling, enhanced brakes, and heightened performance, further cementing its status as an automotive icon.
